Living a healthy lifestyle
People who live a healthy lifestyle feel good. They feel alive, with good spirit, and lots of energy to care for themselves, family, Country, and community.
Being on Country and keeping healthy
Loss of land and connection to Country has also impacted our health and wellbeing. The more we are connected to Country, the healthier we are in body, mind, and spirit. We are one with Country, so as we care for Country, we grow stronger too. Yarn with your family about what cultural practices you can do together on Country to improve and maintain your health and wellbeing.
There are lots of things you can do to live a healthy lifestyle.
- avoid smoking and cigarette smoke
- eat a healthy diet
- be a healthy weight
- be physically active
- be sun smart
- avoid drinking too much alcohol
Your doctor, nurse or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health worker can help too. Yarn with them about what you support and guidance you need live a healthy lifestyle.
