Types of leukaemia

There are six main types of leukaemia:

• acute lymphocytic leukaemia (ALL)
• acute myeloid leukaemia (AML)
• chronic lymphoblastic leukaemia CLL
• chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML)
• hairy cell leukaemia
• chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML)

Acute lymphocytic leukaemia is more common in children. All the other types of leukaemia are much more common in adults.
